Artwork Care Guide
Thank you for purchasing my artwork! So you can enjoy it for a long time, here are a few care tips:
The right location
Please keep your painting away from direct sunlight, damp spaces like bathrooms or kitchens, and right next to radiators. A steady, comfortable room climate without big changes is what your artwork loves best.
Gentle cleaning
Remove dust gently with a soft, dry brush – a fluffy makeup brush works wonderfully – or a microfiber cloth. Please avoid wet wipes, cleaning sprays, or any harsh products. Your painting prefers a gentle touch.
Patience while drying
Oil paints need time – lots of time. It can take up to 12 months for your oil painting to fully cure from the inside out. During this period, please treat it with extra gentleness and avoid any pressure or rubbing on the surface.
Acrylic paints work differently. They dry quickly – usually within a few hours or days – so your acrylic painting is ready to hang and enjoy immediately. No waiting, no extra care needed. Just find it a nice spot on your wall.
Varnish protection
For oil paintings:
Right after painting, I seal your artwork with a retouching varnish – this provides temporary protection and allows it to continue drying.
Works painted more than a year ago are sold already sealed with the final varnish. They are perfectly protected.
For fresher oil paintings (less than a year old), the retouching varnish provides temporary protection. I recommend applying the final varnish when the time is right – either do it yourself, ask a restorer, or contact me.
If the varnish yellows or becomes brittle after many decades, a restorer can renew it.
For acrylic paintings:
Acrylics don't necessarily need a varnish, but I seal each acrylic painting with a special acrylic varnish before it leaves my studio. It makes the colors glow and provides lasting protection. Your acrylic painting is ready to hang and stays beautifully protected for many years. No waiting, no extra steps for you.
